Preteen Red Tent

Red is a symbolic color of strength or female power in certain ancient cultures, such as Native American, African, and Chinese. The Red Tent is rooted in ancient Christian history as a gathering place for women. It eventually became a sacred gathering area where women went to celebrate life as they learned from one another and to strengthen themselves, their families and their communities. It is a sacred space to relax and Be their Authentic Self.

We invite your Preteen daughter to experience The Red Tent.

This gathering is a rite of passage whose mission it is to empower preteen girls through their transition into womanhood. We will encourage them to appreciate their bodies as good and beautiful, private and special. To prepare them for the normal changes they will experience as they grow and develop. The transition from girlhood to womanhood is a celebration, not an emergency.

The girls will celebrate with snack and drinks, dressing up, Henna tattoos and some belly dancing.

The girls will pledge that nothing that anyone said would be discussed with anyone outside of the group except with the girl's parents. We didn't want any questions being repeated at school and to be embarrassing anyone else.

Girls can write down questions and will be chosen to read out loud and anonymously.

We will not discuss: Sex, disease, or conception. Just menstruation and healthy body image.

Products sold include "A Time to Celebrate: A Celebration of a Girl's First Menstrual Period" for $13.95 and "The Dot Girl First Period Kit" for $12.95

This class is best taught in 2 separate age groups: AGES 9-11 and AGES 11-13. If you run a school group, Girl Scout Troop, community group, etc. please contact us for further info.
